The Writer's Workshop

We will write every day in second grade!  Our writing time is called Writer's Workshop.  During workshop time we will start with a mini lesson led by me.  Next, the students will have writing time. Last, we will have an author's share time. The units we will cover this year are below. Please take time to read your child's writing when it comes home.  They will love to show you their Published pieces!  We work REALLY hard on them!

When we all have reached and completed the Publishing stage of writing we will have a Coffee Shop Share Time.  This is a time where the students get to show off their hard work and enjoy a cup of coffee (hot chocolate).  We will listen to easy going music, sip our mochas, and enjoy our great literature!

Snazzy Snack is a super fun part of our writing!  Each month we will make up a different recipe.  First, we will make our recipe cards by writing down the recipe.  During this step we practice using only our BEST handwriting!  Next, we practice following the directions we've made by making our actual recipe.  Last, we get to enjoy all our hard work and EAT!  At the end of the year we will compile all our recipes into a cook book and see how much our writing has changed since the beginning of the school year!  There will be sign up sheet to volunteer to send in ingredients!  Thank you!
